Mr. Peter Lai holds a MA degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge in England. He is also a CFA charter holder from the CFA Institute, USA. He spent more than 35 years in financial industry including central banking, investment banking, private banking, and stockbroking and asset management. Until end April 2017, Peter was CEO and executive director of EC World Asset Management Pte Ltd, a licensed asset management firm that manages a REIT listed on the SGX. He currently sits on board of Champ Buyout III, which is part of the Australian CHAMP Private Equity that manages more than A$2 billion of buyout fund from institutional investors. He also holds the position of Executive Director of Riverside Asia Partners in Singapore, a US based private equity asset management company.
Peter started his career in the Monetary Authority of Singapore as an investment officer in 1980. He moved on to the private sector and attained senior management position in various global institutions. His key appointments in the past 25 years include the following institutions:

While managing his owned corporate advisory firm between 1999 and 2015, Peter had several appointments with tertiary institutions. He taught Business Economics as a full-time lecturer in Ngee Ann Polytechnic from 1985-1988. He was also appointed as Adjunct Associate Professor in the National University of Singapore, NUS Business School in 1999-2001. He taught MBA students for two years in the topics of capital markets and investment management. In 2005-2006, he was appointed as Executive-in-Residence of the Saw Centre for Financial Studies at the NUS Business School. During that appointment, he wrote a book on “Good Practices for Managing Charity Funds”. This book is currently used by many charities and non-profit organizations in Singapore as a reference for their investment committees in managing their financial reserves. In 2013-2017, Peter delivered a total of 20 lectures on the topic “Principles and Practices of Corporate Governance” to 6 classes of students in the Master in Applied Finance in the Singapore Management University. He is also engaged to teach a short course on real estate investment trust (“REIT”) at the Nanyang Technological University.
