THIS WEEK’S TOPIC: as the headline economic growth optimism filtered down to the business bottom line?

MY overall expectation is that the GDPs of major developed and developing economies will grow at a good clip in 2018. Tightening capacities show that the years of excess supply driven by quantitative easing have been replaced by broad-based growth in demand.
Consumer confidence has returned and inflationary expectations are high. The US Federal Reserve will take this opportunity to raise rates to a more normalised level and prompt many major economies to follow suit. China will continue its Belt and Road policies and drive investment into emerging economies. As an open economy, we in Singapore will benefit from broad-based global growth.
