In the paper’s SME Column today, journalist Crystal Heng wrote that RHT Holdings’ Chief Executive Officer, Jayaprakash Jagateesan spoke on the need for SMEs need to consider multiple aspects when growing their businesses. These aspects include partnership, talent development, technology adoption, digital transformation and overseas expansion. The article also noted Ms Amreeta Eng, Director of Enterprise Singapore, as highlighting the various schemes made available by Enterprise Singapore to SMEs such as the Productivity Solutions Grant and Capability Development Grant, as well as the grants that SMEs could tap as they go overseas.
Meanwhile, the coverage noted Mr Kurt Wee, President of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) as sharing during the Media Q&A session on the challenges associated with an ageing workforce. Mr Wee said that SMEs need to reorganise its workforce to enable the mature workers to successfully support the growth of the companies they are employed with. Mr Wee also urged SMEs to embrace technology and transformation.
The coverage also highlighted the idea of collaboration and competition by Maybank’s Head of SME Banking, Mr Marc Leong. Mr Leong said that regardless of whether the SME is based locally or overseas, the firm should always seek good partners and maintain its competitiveness.
