WE expect the initial rate of S$5 per tonne of emissions to spur energy-intensive industries to invest in more sustainable solutions to mitigate the effect of even higher rates in the future. However, it remains to be seen whether companies can cope with rising costs in the near term.
Despite potential headwinds, we are confident that a dynamic economy will fuel greater economic activity in sectors such as green technology.
